Corn seeds, Glass Gem heirloom

Corn seeds, Glass Gem heirloom

A corn that is colorful and highly useful as either popcorn or ground into polenta or corn meal, and if you wish, an ornamental decoration for the holidays.

The story of how Glass Gem corn happened is very interesting. Carl “White Eagle” Barnes wanted to trace his Native American roots by growing different varieties of corn. Before he knew it, the flint corn types he was growing and revitalizing in Santa Fe started to blend together. Once that happened he continued to blend the corn strains until he arrived Glass Gem multi-colored corn.

Translucent kernels shine like glass in a rainbow of colors. Sturdy stalks bear colorful 4-8” long ears with 2-3 ears per stalk.
