Directly sow beans outdoors after any danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed. If you want fresh snap beans, harvest pods when green, if you also want dry beans for Winter, leaves some of the pods on the vine to dry naturally and then harvest for dry beans. Bush beans do not need trellising and create a branching plant of their own for support.

Climate Adaptive Qualities
The Arikara bean is an heirloom passed down to all of us from Native peoples, named after the Arikara tribe of North Dakota. Legends recount that Native women used to carry beans in the hem of their skirts as the tribe moved from place to place. This legend helps us understand how highly prized these seeds were, and continue to be for our daily nutrition in different climates, especially in the face of change.
The beans appear yellow-tan when dried, but they take on a light brown hue when baked. They boast a dense, meaty texture and have a mellow flavor. They can be used for baking and are drought tolerant with high yields.
